I believe there are several reasons.

Firstly, most new marketers online want to make millions without investing a penny! Yet in the non virtual world, no one would expect to start a multi-million dollar business with no investment. To make a lot of money online, somewhere along the line, you are going to have to spend some cash.

The only way to make a lot of money online is to buy the tools and services that leverage your time to allow you to build your online real estate at a much faster pace. You need to buy software that automates your tasks; you need to outsource most of your content creation,; you need to pay for advertising.

I guess the fear for most people is that they will not recover their investment. If that statement applies to you, maybe online marketing is not for you? You have to believe that as long as you stick to tried and tested methods your investment will pay back.

This brings me to the next reason why people fail at online marketing, the word “stick”. Most people who try their hand at Internet Marketing fail to stay focused on just one strategy for any length of time. We're all guilty of a lack of discipline. We get easily distracted by the latest emails to fall in our inboxes promising overnight traffic or rankings.

Those that make it online, the ones who achieve the impressive screenshots, are the marketers that have the self discipline to stay absolutely focused on one single strategy until it brings the expected results.

Choose a strategy that works and stick to it repeatedly for at least a year. Whether you choose ppc marketing or article marketing, choose one and repeat the strategy over and over again until you master it and get results.

Investment and focus are the two biggest reasons a few marketers make it online and the vast majority fail.

You can't really expect to make huge amounts of money online if you're not prepared to put some investment in, and if you don't have a plan that you stick to, how can you expect to get to your targets quickly! The two go hand in hand for success, choose a proven strategy and invest your time and money heavily in to it!
