Classroom Technology of the Modern Era

The modern era has developed a heavy reliance on computer technology. Almost all aspects of the modern era, from the simple PCs at home to the super-computers at NASA, can be classified as technology. Technology has also infiltrated into the modern day classrooms. Students learning in modern day classrooms not only find it easy to learn, but also gets exposed to these modern technologies which in turn help them to compete in a global arena. Classroom technology can range from the use of scientific calculators to the employment of highly sophisticated networks in classrooms.

A projector can be used by teachers to display documentary videos and pictures pertaining to the lesson. This will save teachers the trouble of drawing diagrams on the board and students will be able to more easily understand the lesson. Projectors can also be used to display videos which are hard to explain. Students can also be provided with headphones and the teacher can speak through the use of a microphone. This will be particularly advantageous if the teacher has a soft voice or if there is background noise (such noise is present in most schools). It has been shown by psychological research that if students are able to hear the lesson clearly, they are more likely to remember it.

Technology

Students can also be provided with laptop computers to be used in the classroom. All students’ laptops should be connected with the teacher’s PC using either cables or more preferably, using wireless networking. The teacher will be able send in the lesson and all related work directly into students’ laptops and they will be able to send in their completed work back to the teacher.
